Guide to Authors

Submission of manuscript:

Authors shall submit original research manuscripts, written in English Language, to the editor in-chief through fuamjpas20@gmail.com, eic.fjpas@gmail.com and institutional email address for publication.

Preparation of Manuscript

Title:

Times New Roman, 14 font size, bold and not more than 20 words.

Name and Affiliation of Author(s)

The name and affiliation of each author should appear on the manuscript immediately below the title and should be in Times New Roman, font size 10. In case of multiple authors, the names of authors should first be provided and marked with the appropriate numerical superscript(s) that will be used to indicate their respective affiliations. In addition to the numerical superscript, the corresponding author should also be indicated with asterisk superscript. Surnames with initials should be used. Footnotes (where necessary) relating to the authors should employ lower case letters.

Abstract:

The abstract must not exceed 250 words and should be suitable for publication without change in abstracting journals. It should:

  • Be informative for the non-expert reader:
  • Briefly describe the main topic of the paper
  • Briefly describe the methods used Summarize the main results and conclusion stating possible application of the results
  • Avoid the use of acronyms and formulae
  • Be void of references/citation
  • Keywords:

    Five keywords should be provided.

    Main body/Text

    The text should be divided intofive main sections:Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion and References written in bold. Materials and Methods as well as Results and Discussion may have subsections/headings which should be typedon separate lines in italic lower case except the first letter in upper case. Sections and subsections shall not be numbered.

    Figures and Tables

    Figures and tables should be embedded within the text and numbered serially in Arabic numeral from the beginning to the end.The number and title of each figure should be written below the figure while the number and title of each table should be written above it. Where necessary, the keynote to a table should be written at the base of the table. The content of the tables should be in font size 10. Authors should use “insert table menu” for tables and allow all borders for easy editing.

    Scientific Names:

    Scientific names must be used for all plants and animal species and must be in italic.

    Unit and Abbreviations

    Metric SI units should be used throughout and internally agreed standard should be adhered to in all fields of study. Acronyms should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.

    Equations

    Equations should be written using equation editor or Math Type and numbered sequentially throughout the text. The number should appear in parenthesis at the right-hand side of the page, e.g (7), is sufficient to refer to the equation 7 in the text.

    Acknowledgements

    Acknowledgments of individuals, organisations or institutions should be placed in a separate section after conclusion. The full names of theorganisations or institutions should be used with grant number where applicable.

    References

    The Vancouver style of references should be used. References should be arranged using Arabic numerals. The text citation should consists of the corresponding numbers e.g “[1]” or “[5 – 7]” as they will appear in the list of references.

    Appendix

    Auxiliary analysis or tables whose details are subordinate to the main theme of the paper should normally appear in the appendix. Each appendix should have a title.

    Manuscripts Formatting Requirements

    Manuscripts to be submitted to FUAMJPAS must meet the following formatting requirements:

    Paper length

    The length (from title to appendices) should be a minimum of 6 pages and a maximum of 16 pages. Manuscripts that exceed the page limit will attract extra cost while those with less than 6 pages may be accepted as short communications.

    Font type, line spacing, page numbering

    Text must be set using Time New Roman, 12 point front size and double line spacing except in the list of references where a single reference should be written with single line spacing and separated from another by double line spacing. Pages should be numbered at the bottom center using automatic page numbering function. Use automatic line numbering function to number all the lines in the article.

    Listing of References

    Listing of references should be in line with the numbers in square bracket as cited in the text. Example, the citation; “[1]” or “[2,3,10]” will appear in the list of reference in accordance with the formats below.

    For a reference with more than 6 authors, list the first six(6) authors with et al (in italic) for the remaining author(s).
